I Made a Cosman Workbench
My First workbench a Rob Cosman Workbench with 19mm Plywood
9/13/2024
It was 2023, I had just moved to Bengaluru, rented a small apartment, rented some furniture, it was all well, until I wanted to use it :)
I wanted to make a telescope.
Somehow Jon Dobson and his videos came my way, it was quite fascinating watching him grind a mirror, eventually I also found a telescope mirror making playlist by IUCAA.
I gathered materials, started grinding and that’s when problems started. My rented table was too wobbly.
I was fed up and had to look for new options.
Local carpenter quotes were expensive and design was boring, IKEA was too woobly. Other online options were not giving me confidence, I didn’t have an option, I had to build a workbench.
After a lot of looking around, I decided on Rob Cosman’s Workbench, something that was within my budget, sturdy and heavy-duty.
That’s how all this started and I am glad the bench is holding up really well. I just didn’t want an ugly workbench and I hate plasticky laminates, I decided to paint. I want my furniture to look good, doesn’t matter if it’s a workbench which will be hammered for years to come.
I left the top unfinished, and only Painted the Frame and legs.
